Bibles For Everyone

Most of us have at least one or two friends who are non-Christians, whether men or women. This can sometimes be difficult, as the subject of Christianity can be a source of conflict within a friendship. But take heart, there are Bibles for everyone!

 

Among the Bibles that I have seen while searching the Internet are a number of translations that will be easy for your non-Christian friends to read and that will perhaps help to communicate what your faith is all about. One in particular is the ESV Outreach New Testament. This addresses many of the questions that non-Christians have with regard to salvation. It is a particularly easy translation to understand, as it is in modern, everyday English.

 

When looking for a Bible to share with a nonbeliever, look for articles that explain concepts of Christianity very clearly, without equivocating or diluting the message of Christ.

 

When I was in college, I was at heart an agnostic. I neither believed nor disbelieved - I was simply detached from God and unsure whether Christianity was for me. A wonderful translation that reached out to me at that time was The Message, couched as it was in a narrative style of language. It was like reading a well-written letter from a good friend who knew Our Lord very well indeed.

 

While it is true that there are Bibles for everyone, it is also true that one thing must first take place: you must read the Bible. How else can you hope to understand it? And how else can you give your non-Christian friends proof of your faith and why you believe what you believe?

 

 

If you have a friend who is a non-Christian, you might give them a Bible that has what I like to call the Answers Section. This is a section that lists where to find answers to the thornier questions in life - what to do when you are afraid, how to know if you are saved, how to ask God to forgive you, and so forth. We are all seeking the truth - so help your friends to find it!

 

I have found that the older versions are somewhat daunting to the non-Christian, such as the King James Version with its formal language. This version is best left until later in someone's journey of discovery, as the language, while beautiful poetry, is difficult to understand. You want to share a more modern version of the Bible at first - keep it as simple as you can.
